For hill climbs, however, energy losses due to the higher rotating weight of most aerodynamic rims are greater than the aerodynamic drag reduction that they offer, so a traditional lighter box-sectioned rim is often used. Rims are usually made from various alloys like aluminum alloy. However, a rim for a road bicycle can be made from a carbon fiber that is less in weight as compared to a metal rim. For better aerodynamics, it is always advisable to lower the number of spokes present in the wheel.
